Subscriptions

Staff can manage your constituents' subscriptions with your association, for specific publications, and individual issues.

Subscription Configuration

Subscription Product Records, like Merchandise or Miscellaneous Product Records, are created through the Product tab. You can learn more about this process on the Product Configuration Page.

Subscription Management

Staff can update historical subscription records, and (with the right permissions) can easily create new subscription products by selecting the "Subscription" record type when creating new records from the Products tab.

Publications

You can use publications to manage the books, journals, magazines, and other media you issue to the general public. As you create publications, you can set the type of publication, its frequency, the product offerings for the publication, and it's issues.

Permissions

To ensure you have control over who can view and update publications, there are two permission sets you can assign to your staff:

Permission SetDescription

Nimble AMS Publication View All

View All permissions for the Nimble AMS Publication and Issue objects, including the tab, all record types, and all fields. It includes Read permission to the Publication and Issue fields on the Product and Engagement objects, respectively.

Nimble AMS Publication Create and Modify All

Create and Modify All permissions for the Nimble AMS Publication and Issue objects, including the tab, all record types, and all fields. It includes Edit permission to the Publication and Issue fields on the Product and Engagement objects, respectively.

Types of Publications

Create different types of publications depending on the types of media your association produces. You can create your own publication record types, and there are several included with Nimble AMS:

Record TypeDescription
BlogA regularly updated website or web page with posts and articles, generally written in a conversational style.
BookA literary composition containing pages bound in covers, either printed or digitally.
JournalContains original research, in-depth analysis of topics, lengthy articles, and statistical information.
MagazineContains news stories, and current events, generally presented in the form of articles and interviews.
NewsletterContains news stories and current events, generally presented as a bulletin or newspaper.
OtherA miscellaneous work that cannot be categorized as any of the other record types.
ReportPresents information on a specific problem and uses facts and evidence to provide a solution. This includes whitepapers and case studies.

Publication Frequency

To set how often the publication is released and its number of occurrences, you can relate a publication to a frequency. For example, the Nimble Life publication might have a quarterly frequency which is four occurrences every twelve months.

This field is used for informational purposes and doesn't affect the terms of any related subscription products product.

Publication Product Offerings

You can also relate one or more subscription products to a publication so you can view the different product offerings you provide constituents. For example, you might sell a one-year digital subscription or a two-year print subscription to the Nimble Life publication.

View and Manage Publications

View, create, edit, and delete publications from the Publications tab.

Issues

You can use issues to represent specific volumes or releases of a publication. Relate one or more issues to a publication so you can view all volumes or releases for the publication. For example, on the monthly Nimble Life publication, you might have 12 related issues, one for each month of this year.

Each issue contains details about the specific volume or release, including its title, whether its print, digital, or both, and an image—linked from your CMS.

Issue Engagement

As you put a volume or release together, you can relate the issue to one or more engagements to track constituent involvement in activities like authoring or editing an article.

View and Manage Issues

View, create, edit, and delete issues from the Issues related list on a publication.

Change the Display Size of an Issue Image

By default, the image in Image displays 150 pixels wide, but an administrator can change the display width or height to suit your needs.

  1. Edit the IssueImageWidth custom label using Local Translations / Overrides.
  2. To set the display width, enter the number of pixels as a positive number. Example, 300.
  3. To set the display height, enter the number of pixels as a negative number. Example, -300.
